Insecticides
The prohibition on the use of spinosyns has been extended in SE FL. Some of the attached labels define the prohibition of use in Broward and certain areas of Palm Beach County, until July 1, 2010. Growers in other areas of the state that are still able to use spinosyn products would be well advised to practice an agressive resistance management program utlilizing all IPM techniques including preservation of beneficial insects to avoid falling into a similar situation. Western flower thrips can not be controlled by the used of insecticides alone. A knowledge-based integrated approach to manage this pest is required.
