Sterile Insect Technique

This link (http://sit.ifas.ufl.edu) provides access to presentations and associated materials from the "FAO/IAEA Training Course on Use of Radioisotopes and Radiation in Entomology."  The purpose of the course is to provide a comprehensive overview and training on the application of nuclear-related techniques within the context of area-wide insect integrated pest management (IPM).  It is presented to managers of insect IPM programs, animal health and plant protection officials, and applied research entomologists.  The course includes radiation-induced sterility, the sterile insect technique (SIT), F-1 sterility, other methods of managing pest insects, integration of methodologies for area-wide insect pest management, the biology and ecology of pest insect populations, economic analysis of area-wide IPM projects, and reviews of successful and ongoing SIT programs.
